We are delighted to appear on The Big Issue 100 Change Makers 2021 list as part of 9 organisations on the list under the heading of justice and direct action.

Zita Holbourne, National Chair and one of the two co-founder of BARAC UK said:
"We thank The Big Issue for not only acknowledging our work campaigning for equality and justice but for the work they do. 2020 was a difficult year for all of us with disproportionate impacts on black, Asian and minority ethnic communities and others already marginalised. We faced not just the collective trauma of the pandemic but the brutal murder of George Floyd and deepening systemic racism. Windrush injustice continues with the vast majority still not receiving compensation and the targeting of Caribbean communities by the UK's brutal immigration system and families threatened with being torn apart as a mass deportation charter flight to Jamaica was scheduled just before Christmas.
We also marked our 10 year anniversary of BARAC UK in June last year.
Going forward into 2021 we are calling with others for a zero covid strategy, for justice for the Windrush Generation, for decolonisation of policies, practices and systems which allow racism to thrive, for climate and Windrush justice, human rights for migrant communities and those who are displaced. Thank you to the Big Issue for highlighting our work and congratulations on your 30th anniversary. We will continue to work for the human rights, dignity and equality for all."
